Stefán A.R Orschel-Read

Director of Programmes

Introduction: Stefán has a distinguished career in both practice and academia. With extensive experience in the Far East and a research focus on notions of Identity and Narratives of Textile Craft, he guides students on a holistic journey towards futures in design.

Background: Stefán was born in India and grew up in Scotland. He graduated from the prestigious Central Saint Martin's in Menswear Fashion and went on to complete a Masters at the Royal College of Art. Upon launching his eponymous menswear tailoring label he held a notable position in the British fashion industry, showcasing his collections with catwalks in London, Moscow and Italy. He has been a NewGen Men finalist three times.

For more than a decade, Stefán has been based in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Egypt and China, leading and developing fashion design programmes with a global perspective. His graduates have won prominent international design awards and have been featured in global industry press.
